Research

  • Groundwater flow and reactive transport modeling in porous media
  • Groundwater contamination and in-situ remediation design
  • Stochastic hydrogeology and inverse modeling
  • Flow and transport in coastal hydrogeologic systems
  • Coastal urban flooding

Dr. Luo’s research integrates experimental, theoretical, and computational approaches to study subsurface flow and reactive transport. His work spans the development and application of numerical and stochastic methods for analyzing hydrogeologic and biogeochemical data, inverse modeling under uncertainty, and the investigation of seawater intrusion and coastal urban flooding. He applies computational models to assess subsurface contamination and to support the optimal design of groundwater remediation strategies.
